Coloring Page : Bolo Rei de Cima from Portugal
Coloring page depicting a cake from the king from above.
The Portuguese tradition of "Bolo Rei de Cima" or "Cake of the King from Above" is a regional variation of the famous "Bolo Rei" commonly consumed during the holiday season, especially at Christmas and New Year's. This specific version of the cake is typical of the Upper Trás-os-Montes region in northeastern Portugal.
The traditional "Bolo Rei" is a crown-shaped cake, rich in dried and candied fruits, often adorned with nuts and sometimes decorated with powdered sugar or candied fruits on top. The dough is similar to sweet bread and may include ingredients such as port wine.
Traditionally, the "Bolo Rei" contains a small gift (often a small figurine) and sometimes a dried bean hidden inside. The person who finds the figurine is supposed to have good luck for the coming year and may be crowned the "king" or "queen" of the day. The bean usually means that you must buy the "Bolo Rei" the following year
